Adventures in Plymouth, Massachusetts is well known for its true western
character! Your stay here begins with a short demonstration of
our western riding techniques followed by an evaluation of the guests’
riding style and ability. We have a broad selection of horses, and know
how it important it is to your enjoyment that we make the best possible
match between horse and rider. Cowboy Jim’s
always offers the correct riding pace for qualified riders and also
keeps nervous new, beginners comfortable and at ease while taking your
western lesson with additional support by qualified staff. We will do
whatever it takes to make your adventure, the adventure of a lifetime!
Cowboy Jim’s Ranch – At Cowboy Jim’s you will have the western
ranch experience! There are many opportunities for living the western
lifestyle experience once you arrive at the ranch. Put on your cowboy
boots and your hat and saddle up for a day in the Wild West!! One of
the favorite options for your lesson is learning and practicing “cowboy”
skills! Ranch guests can try their hand at roping, guitar playing,
participating in our famous barrel riding sessions. As always, our fun
horseback riding games vary to keep our frequent visitors coming back
year after year. Many find that the teamwork built in our riding teams
or fun competitions offer a new experience of teamwork between horse and
rider that lets the rider experience a new dimension to your stay. The
ranches location is close by to the Myles Standish Forest while being
minutes away to historic downtown Plymouth. This area is abundant in
ponds and excellent fishing. For those of you who would like to spend
time in the area after your stay at the Ranch, hike or bike through
beautiful dirt roads, and capture the stunning sunsets of nearby Cape
Cod!

Riding Horses – The Ranch trains the riding horses you will be working and riding during your stay. Guests can visit all of the horses and learn about each of the different breeds and their special characteristics and traits in order to learn what horse may be best suited for your riding pleasure. We are trained professionals and know what makes a good match. The ranch Arabians are known for their even temperament as well as their beauty and endurance. There are also Quarter Horses, Appaloosas, Welsh Ponies, Friesians, Standardbreds, American Paints and many other breeds carefully chosen for consistency in their behavior, temperament and skill set. Every effort is made to match the rider with the most suitable horses which is so important to the enjoyment of riding. Riding groups are kept small and composed according to the skill of the riders. The ranch only takes about 10 guests at a time and you will find a broad choice of happy and friendly horses.

Western and English Riding Lessons– You have the option of taking a western or english style riding lesson by one of our Licensed Massachusetts Riding Instructors, many instructors have over 25 years experience in all facets of horseback riding and horse care. Beginner Adults are always welcomed in a warm, caring manner that will make you feel right at home and relax those unsettled nerves to enjoy your ride, while learning important basic skills to keep you safe and confident.

Accommodations – Guests are offered many options in nearby lodges, hotels and bed and breakfasts to make their stay more comfortable and be nearby to the Ranch. Our friendly staff will take care of these arrangements for you, or if you prefer to make your own arrangements a detailed list with complete contact information will be provided at no additional charge.
Beach/Ocean Activities –
After
a day at the Ranch, what better way to
cool off and relax than at a
family friendly beach. Just 3 minutes away by car, Scusset Beach is
located on Cape Cod Bay at the east end of the Cape Cod Canal. It is a
popular swimming and year-round camping area. There are 98 sites with
water and electric utilities for RV campers and 5 tent only campsites.
For salt water anglers, the area offers a popular fishing pier, a 3000
foot breakwater and 1 1/2 miles of frontage along the canal. Many
relaxing spots are available with great views for watching the variety
of boats and ships passing through the canal.
